VOLUME 3 BOOK TEASER, THE RETURN OUT FOR BLOOD

Someone is coming back to town and when he or she presents sparks will ignite. The mouths of many will drop and the games of trickery have just begun. Someone is bound to get burned. The heat is on. This mystery, suspense, drama is chilling. “I’m back… and I am out for blood.”

Marisola is hotter than lava. She is the soon to be wife and mother of Darrin’s child and is more than confused about Darrin’s attachment to Joy. With the death of Darrin and Joy’s daughter Marisola is shamefully relieved that her baby won’t have to share center stage with Darrin’s love child. She is more than eager to reveal to Joy that she is carrying his baby.

Darrin however, is still very much in love with Joy and seeks comfort in her presence. Feeling guilty about abandoning her twelve years prior he is persistent in winning back her love. Darrin may be a good candidate for Joy to relinquish her sexual frustrations, but to her it would only make things worse. Especially since she is still convince that her husband and two boys are alive and awaiting her return. Dear old Darrin has never been one to take no for an answer, but as things heat up he may be the one simmering down. He is torn between Joy and Marisola, as he continues to doubt his ability’s to be faithful and a good father.

Meanwhile, Sam is shameless in her attempts to settle the score. She will stop at nothing to collect on what she feels is rightfully hers.  She can’t seem to sit down. Her nerves are shaky awaiting Charles’ insurance policy check to clear. She is dating the enemy, but only for his riches while his nose is wide open.  When a familiar face returns to the busy streets of Oakland, Sam is hot on the trail, she can’t believe her eyes; but sticks to her gun’s in her vengeful plot. Sam has a score to settle, but so does the person returning. She’s not the only one out for blood. She too is hunting down those she feels are responsible for the death of her husband. She is far from coming to terms with her sister’s lapse in judgment. She sets her sights on her firm, while Joy has ventured to the quiet comforts of the forest to gather her thoughts, hopefully in beginning the steps towards healing.

Nadine takes a stand against both Sam and Darrin by telling them to kick rocks and leave Joy be. Darrin is caught lurking about Joy’s office building looking for her whereabouts. She hasn’t returned any of his phone calls or written correspondence. The whereabouts of Lillian are questioned, when unexplained occurrences start to effect the creditability of Joy’s business. Nadine smells a rat and advises Joy to come back to town, as she is sure Sam is behind it all. Nadine is looking to catch Sam in the act having witnessed her deviousness personally. She can’t wait to see Joy’s jaw drop as she unveils just how scandalous little Sam can be. Who Returns with a broken heart and lost soul, a line crossed and love turns into a smoldering hate? SNEAK PEAK INTO VOLUME 3: The Return

“Darrin what are you doing up so late?” Matisola gripped the meat of Darrin’s shoulders massaging slightly. Darrin pushed the tablet towards the back if his desk trying to hide what he knew Marisola suspected.

“Nothing babe, is everything okay? It’s not the baby is it?”

“No! I just wanted you to come to bed. You have been out here for some time and I get lonely.” Marisola seductively flirted with Darrin.

“I will be there in a few.” Darrin responded short and dry as he was busy writing his thoughts. He missed Joy and He needed to speak with her. He needed to gain some closure on the matter. Sure He loved Marisola and his unborn child but there were many issues that still haunted him when it came to Joy. Darrin pondered as he watched Marisola switch back to his master bedroom. She was a hot number and her presence fulfilled the hole in his heart up until Ashley’s death.

 Marisola served as a great scapegoat she seemed to suppress his feelings of guilt and pain. During the hours of the day that is, the night owl plagued him nightly. He dreaded the moons presence. Marisola was a nice addition to his lifestyle but her getting pregnant threw a wrench in his cozy stress free relations. He wasn't ready for Ashley twelve years prior and he admitted that fact to Joy. They were young, and fresh out of college they knew nothing about the real world or where their careers would land or begin for that matter.

 Darrin confessed to abandoning Ashley and Joy out of fear, and he was admitting to himself that he was getting those same feelings of fear snapping him back into reality. He wasn’t sure he was ready for fatherhood. The anxiety was taking its toll. Darrin felt guilty when he smiled at the thought of his new born baby. He couldn't tell Joy anything regarding the child he just couldn't stand to see the look in her eyes.

Darrin stood up and decided he would take a stroll onto the balcony of his upstairs office. He was in awe of the nights beauty but fearful of it just the same. Darrin grabbed the bars of the balcony and looked down onto the bed of roses that lined his driveway. He was devastated and holding on to so much pain. It was a wonder he hadn't fallen to pieces. Darrin shook his head as he punched into the palms of his hands. He felt the release coming on. The quiet of the night would lead him to peace. Crying out to the moons stars he sobbed like a baby his shoulders violently shaking as the tears flowed heavily.

Marisola heard the ruckus she was snooping as usual creeping behind loitering about Darrin’s desk. She peeked at his letter of solitude.

“What is this?” She yelled from across the room. Darrin was startled at her outburst and then astonished at her boldness. Became

“Darrin I am sick and tired of this shit. Are you still in love with this Bitch? Am I just here for show?” Marisola began speaking gibberish in Spanish harsh words Darrin knew.

“I don't know.” he responded. “I just don't know. I do know that I love you and the baby you are carrying. I just have some unfinished issues to address. We just lost our child, Marisola.”

 “Yes a child you hadn’t seen or been in contact with for more than ten years. Or did you forget that bit of information?”

“So…, I am not supposed to feel pain? I can't believe you would say that. I loved Ashley I just didn't know how to be a father. I was a young, stupid, and selfish, man. If I had it to do it all over again, I would.”

Darrin threw his hands to the sky and rubbed his head. Marisola was quiet she was saddened by the truths Darrin spoke. She was afraid of where she stood in the equation.

“So what is this...some kind of front?”

“No babe, this WAS me trying to get over my past and make a future. A future with you, I thought…I won’t lie to you about my feelings for Joy. I will say that I wouldn't act on them. I am just not that type of dude. I am committed to you. I am just worried about her. She hasn't answered any of my letters or phone calls. The only contact I have had with anyone is with Sam, and she is such a liar, I know she wouldn’t tell me anything if I paid her. She just said that she wasn’t well.”

“Wait!” Marisola was confused and enraged. Letter’s… phone calls, what the fuck Darrin?” Marisola was so angry. She struggled to speak.

“Get out Darrin! Just go please.”

 Darrin grabbed for his keys. He walked briskly towards the door then stopped dead in his tracks. He thought about the matter at hand. Darrin smiled at the thought of him leaving his own home. He could have been a real asshole and put her ass out, but he was sensitive to her pregnancy. Without a second glance he started towards the door with a dismissive hand. Chuckling he snickered, “I’ll let you have this one.” Darrin could taste the Hennessey, and Corona miles away from the bar. He would make it there by ten he calculated. Just enough time to drink his troubles under a table and get him-self thrown out on his ass.

Marisola smashed the glass of water she gripped onto the top of Darrin’s cherry desk.

“You pregnant and I get that but there’s nothing protecting yo face. You should be sure to remember that I am still in recovery.”

Marisola was mad she just couldn’t stop herself. “I can’t understand why you even went to Joy in regards to Ashley in the first place. It’s not like Ash ever asked to see you. Joy and her man weren’t hurting for anything.” Marisola was pushing buttons she knew were forbidden but the heat in her chest from the jealous rage had burst into a fiery flame. She was sick of the whole ordeal. She admitted she played along with Darrin and his shenangins because she wanted him to be happy. However she too had needs. She hated to admit her glee about the dissipation of Ashley’s commemoration into the family. She didn’t think she could take looking at a child she knew Darrin Fathered with another woman. A woman she knew him to compare her to.

Marisola gritted her teeth at the smug look Darrin wore on his face. He didn’t seem to be at all bothered about admitting his undying love for Joy, no matter how heartbroken she became in the process.

“I am going to leave, just as you asked.” Darrin knew that his patience was growing thin. The very fact that he didn’t have liquor on his breath saved her life. Turning  his back he left, slamming the door behind him.

I think that this story speaks for many. When we lose someone very close to us we are often in denial. I think that what Joy is experiencing is normal. Its a trip how lillian comes out and puts folk in their place, thats whats up. Now as for Darrin ole boy was wrong for black mailing Joy for money. As a man raising my own children its hard and to see that he wasn't around for years and just popped up was no good in the first place. Its sad can't wait to see what happens in volume ii I wonder if Joy is going to be right about Justin not dying... and what is up with Sam I can't wrap my brain around her just yet. Cool story not ghetto or full of pornographic scenes but hot just the same I liked it. A real story behind the words.

Volume 2 is when shit hits the fan first of all Charles was a cool dude in terms of handling Darrin when he showed up out of the blue. I was through with ole boy when he tried to trade his daughter for money in order to try and make amends. In volume one I speak for many single dads when I say we are not all bad and that dude just gave us a bad name. Now Lillian is a cold piece of work. Where ever she came from she is putting folk in their place which is totally out Joy’s character. I can relate to this book because we all go through a time of denial and disbelief when we lose our loved ones. Joy is just hurt and the rest of the fam seems to be just trying to forget the issue and have this memorial service. Sam I don’t even have words for, well I got some but I am trying to keep this review as peaceful as possible. Charles should know the line, Sam is going to get hers I am sure of it. Money hungry mongrels is right on this one yal. Is there a part 3 cuz I’d like to know who Joy is pregnant by and why Sam did what she did? Even though she is paying for it dearly now, it’s sad, funny, it gets ugly, sexy, all that. WHERE IS VOLUME 3?

After reading the first book of this series I am anxiously awaiting volume 2. When Joy began experiencing issues with her sister and mother n law after suffering the loss of not only her husband buy her childrrn the tears began to flow. I was there not long ago. I could only imagine loosing my children in such a horrible set of circumstances. No one seems to understand her talks with her deceased husband or the fact that she still cooks and cleans for them hoping for their return. This book has many twists and turns and paints a clear picture of how families hoard in when there is a loss of a loved one. Everyone tends to think that their bond is stronger than the next. It's a great read.

Can't believe Charles or Sam in this saga.I can most definitely see why Joy has come out of her shell glad to finally see her standing up for herself, even if she wants to be called lillian during her manic attacks. The whole while reading you really begin to question Sam and her motives and I wont ruin the closing piece but I will say this thank God for volume three...

Patrice is determined to get to the bottom of things, as she detests Joy’s sister, Sam. She is convinced Sam is up to no good and as conniving as they come.

Darrin:

Darrin the newly rehabilitated thug is the old-flame and baby’s daddy to Joy’s first born. This dead-beat dad resurrects from the dead, hoping to build a relationship with his 12-year-old daughter, who has mixed emotions about meeting her Father for the first time in ten years. Joy is in need of financial assistance, so she makes a deal with the Devil, and feels guilty about trading her daughter for blood-money. Joy and Husband Justin have the finances to cover the expenses, but the nature of Joy’s medical emergency must be kept secret from the family.  

Sam:

Sam the younger sister, by 6 measly minutes, is known for her bold and vociferous attitude. She is married with children but seeks the comfort of others that truly understand her needs as a woman and mother,  “No one understands me,” is her line of defense in every case of slipped judgment.  Sam has a love/hate relationship when it comes to her older sister Joy.  Though she realizes she can count on her sister Joy, she would love to out-stage “Miss Thing” just once in her life.

Joy:

Joy Anderson is a high profile literary agent who owns her own firm. Work is her muse, as the dynamics of her family are often stressful. Plagued with the responsibility that comes with being the eldest she wears the hat of mother, sister, and financier. A series of catastrophic event’s open Pandora’s Box and Joy falls prey to the seduction of psychotherapy drugs. Conflict arises as the addiction breeds havoc against her sanity and physical health. 

Lillian:

Joy’s fragile subconscious has a frightful opposing personality. Lillian the seductive, sultry, foe, is less than pragmatic, but rather that of an inventive spirit. Justin:

Justin is Joy’s knight and shining armor. Her savior from the emotional storms Joy herself breeds. He is the voice of reason, and heavy, a trait Joy relishes in because she could remain outside the reach of drama and maintain her halo. Although Justin bickers about Joy standing up to people that abuse her good natures, Justin prizes the fact that Joy looks to him for protection.

Charles:

Oh did I mention that Joy and Sam’s husband are first cousins? Charles, Sam’s flirtatious, gambling jock is the account executive for Joy’s Husband Justin. They are the two men to see in the world of construction and design. Justin owns the company while Charles is smuggling funds from Justin’s gullible palms to fund a gambling addiction he blames on Sam’s overzealous spending. “If it wasn’t for the kids I wouldn’t give you a dime. You are way over your spending limit, but I can’t have my nephew’s out on the street.” Justin snarled as he scribbled his signature on a $3000 check. “You know Sam she just keeps spending.” Charles nervously replied, knowing full well he was lying. Charles and his addiction to skirts and gambling will soon write a check he can’t cash.

IN THE MINDS EYE:

Joy suffers from the need of acceptance and heroism her childhood issues and abuse rise to the surface after her husband and children are claimed by the storm. She is unable to cope so inventing this no nonsense personality has helped her recede into the background by way of medication. Lillian takes charge and begins to attack those she feels have wronged her.

“Enough is enough…” Lillian says, while Joy maintains her halo, however she suffers in that it is still her physical form lashing out. About the Author:
Author Aija Monique Butler, was born in San Diego California, in 1979. She currently resides in the San Francisco Bay area where she is a student of Medicine pursing a graduate degree in Healthcare Management. She is an Advocate and Philanthropist for non-profit program development in the areas of Youth and Social Service Development. She is a grant writer and holds an extensive background in Psychology and has a host of medical certifications. Aija has a love for the arts and is a writer of poetry both fiction and non-fiction novels and memoirs.
